09-17-1982 Cumberland County Civic Center

High energy show, smooth, tight playing throughout, Garcia shows and displays a lot of very fluid playing....highlights include a great Candyman, Althea in the first...the crowd is treated to the freshly debuted West LA and T-Stones, hot Deal to close the first...second set is highlighted by one of the better Estimated Prophets...GDTRFB smokes...Morning Dew may be the best of the year, in a year with only 4 versions (04-06, 07-31, 9-17, 10-09)...i personally enjoy useless blues, so this one, while not 10-21-78, is a good version...nice sounding matrix, went with this one as only the second set is represented with the crisp sbd...

picking up where SDH left off?

I rarely listen to 82s, but damn....NICE. Sound could be
a little better, but no complaints really.
>> had to give the Eyes the 'tester'. It wasnt outrageously
fast, so I started it from the get.
Really good I must say: The extra verse in West L.A. was
pleasantly unexpected. And the "dead start" Throwin
Stones kinda works, to bad the rest of the song doesnt...
Its cool to hear some works in progress. Cant wait to get
to the High. Est>Eyes, and Dew.
Thanks for the rec strat! If only we ALL had your good
taste :)

EDIT~ New line in Eyes of the world: After the 'redeemer
fading away' line: " There follows a flavor beside him
that's loaded with hay ". Classic Jer ;)

Someone's got to carry the torch. And I've be so immersed in early-mid 70's lately, I haven't been able to return to my old hunting grouds. Nice to see someone else taking up the flag.

Understood. You just keep doing what you need to, but know
your recs are missed around here; Somehow they always
make it to 'my little ears'.
Keep that compound safe...

Until UU explains how to post right on the page, you're
just gonna have to look at my 'attatchment'. And we all
know how painful that can be: its so small...

wtf= what the fuck or wave that flag. your decision

agree about this gig. Another reason I love it is that Jerry's voice hasn't quite given out yet and he's still able to nail High Time. Very, very nice version of this tune at this gig.

How's the sound quality on this one? appears to be only 55% SBD...is that mostly first set? (Can't check it out at work right now!)

Pretty sweet lookin setlist.

Though, there are more than 4 morning dews in 1982. Setlists.net says its 8, i cant recall exactly, but almost every dew from this year is quite stellar.

This recording delivers the musical intent of the artist more effectively, IMHO ...

Finally a chance to test out my theory!

See, if dot-Starz says something that someone else calls him on (for whatever reason), he goes back and changes it. Apparently this is an effort to change the nature of time. And you never know; he may be on to something.

What I think should happen then is that someone else -- that's you in this case, Red -- should KEEP changing your post to respond to whatever dot-Starz changes it too. And then he'll change. And then you'll change. And it'll go faster and faster until reality itself will become warped ...

And who knows what will happen then? In this case, you may warp back to 9/17/82, which would truly be a great show to be at. Or you might just both turn to butter. Or you might be butter in 9/17/82. You never can tell.

Just a modest proposal for a scientific experiment.
